By bus from Benalmádena (M-121)

The M-121 is the local bus line. From Benalmádena Pueblo (the old hilltop village) or Arroyo de la Miel (the town below), board the M-121 heading toward the Estupa Tibetana. Alight at the Estupa Tibetana stop — this is the Tibetan stupa, the large Buddhist monument on the same hillside. From the bus stop, the Colomares monument is about 15 minutes downhill on foot, following signs or the path. The route is downhill all the way, on a road or path. Buses run regularly throughout the day; frequency increases in summer.

By train and bus from Málaga city

From central Málaga, take the Cercanías (commuter rail, line C1) heading toward Fuengirola. Alight at Benalmádena–Arroyo de la Miel station. From there, take the M-121 uphill toward Estupa Tibetana. This adds travel time but works if you are based in Málaga city and do not have a car. The whole journey (train + bus + walk) takes about 45 minutes to an hour from central Málaga.

Driving and parking

Free parking in Benalmádena Pueblo: The old village, about 600 m uphill from the monument entrance. Park there free, then walk down the hill following road signs to the monument gate. Shops and restaurants are in the Pueblo, so you can eat before or after. On-site parking: A handful of free spaces exist on the approach road near the entrance. These fill very quickly, especially in summer and on weekends. Do not bank on finding a space; parking in the Pueblo is more reliable. From Málaga Airport (about 20 km), drive south toward Benalmádena, follow signs to Arroyo de la Miel or Benalmádena Pueblo, then navigate uphill.

Walking from Benalmádena Pueblo

If you park in the Pueblo, the walk down is straightforward. It takes about 10–15 minutes downhill on a road. The route is not particularly scenic (road traffic), but it is direct. Return is uphill, which takes longer and is hotter if you do it in midday sun. A taxi back up to the Pueblo is cheap (a few euros) if you have walked and do not want to climb back.

Taxi or rideshare

A taxi from Benalmádena marina or Arroyo de la Miel to the monument gate costs a few euros. From Málaga city, a taxi to the monument entrance runs €20–30 depending on traffic. Rideshare apps work in the area.

Insider tip

The M-121 bus to Estupa Tibetana is the standard way if you do not have a car. Benalmádena is not large; everyone knows the Tibetan stupa. Parking in the Pueblo and walking down is reliable if you have a car.
